I have a number of saved passwords in Options=>Privacy. However, Firefox is no longer supplying these to the login screens for these sites as it was doing prior.

Everything looks ok. I can see the passwords.

Is there some other setting I need to check?

thanks

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history

  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"

Thank you for the answer! Unfortunately, Private Browsing was not set (not checked) so that doesn't seem to be the cause of the problem.

Can a security suite change Firefox so that passwords aren't supplied? And do so in a non-visible way - meaning making changes beyond changing user accessible setting?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

It is also possible that those sites have changed the code and are using autocomplete=off to stop Firefox from saving and filling the name and password.

Thank you, thank you.

In the end, I used the brute force method of uninstalling and reinstalling.

Actually, I think I see what the problem is, I think. I use the add-0n for Import/Export Passwords. It does import the passwords but Firefox is not using them. If I enter one of these saved passwords on the related site, Firefox asks me whether or not I want to save it - which ignores the fact that it is already saved and imported. Once I say yes, it will then reproduce it as normal but not from the imported passwords - even though I can see them in the Option => Privacy => Saved Passwords.

Is this an potential issue with the add-on or Firefox?

Not all data in the passwords that you imported may be correct, especially the domain is important.

You can try to verify or compare those re-added password entries with the Saved Password Editor extension.

Cor-el,

Thank you again. This helped. Everything is working!
