I reinstalled Thunderbird after doing a recovery on my system. I looked through .mab files and found nothing. Also, I cannot find the emails that were in my inbox at the time of Recovery. Does this mean all is lost?

If you need to reinstall Thunderbird. just what sort of recovery did you do?

Please keep in mind that Thunderbird and all it's data is resident on your computer. formatting your drive, erasing it's contents and the like is a guaranteed way to loose that data.

Windows was not opening for me and it gave me a choice to recover or to keep on trying to open windows. It wasn't happening so I did the recovery. Before I did so it stated that I would only loose my apps but not the data files. I have Quicken and found all I needed very easily. Thought it would be the same for Thunderbird.

use the windows + R keys to open a run dialog. Type %appdata% in the dialog and press enter. In the file manager dialog that opens open the Thunderbird folder and then the profiles folder.

How many folders are there (I am hoping 2)
