why does firefox start cds etc automatically
I have a CD on my website www.therapytraining4u.com syllabus and hypnotherapy page, that I don't want played unless someone choses to hear it by clicking it. I have been told that when anyone using Firefox opens the page they have this cd playing. it is not relevant to the other information on the page, they are telling me to turn it off but it does not happen on explorer so this is the first I heard of it. So now because of Firefox I may have to take it down. Why do they think people want to hear it automatically/// I have whiteboards on the site as well which are optional viewing I don't know they start up automatically. No one likes it they are all saying turn it off but how can I control a Firefox site. Patricia

Yes, I can verify that an audio track runs automatically when this page loads in Firefox 47 on Windows 7. http://www.therapytraining4u.com/therapists_directory_10.html
Beyond the scope of this user support forum, it is web page development issue, IMO.
Please see these two resources to get help for that compatibility issue. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/where-go-developer-support http://webcompat.com/
Do you mean the MP3 linked at the bottom of http://www.therapytraining4u.com/hypnotherapy.html?
<a href="http://www.therapytraining4u.com/hypnotherapy%20syllubus.mp3"> <img alt="hypnotherapy syllubus.mp3" src="http://www.therapytraining4u.com/wpimages/wp47e4936e_06.gif" style="position:absolute;left:834px;top:2370px;width:104px;height:149px;"> </a>
I don't see why that would play automatically if it's a link. And I don't hear anything, so... what am I missing here?
Or the "embed" on http://www.therapytraining4u.com/therapists_directory_10.html? For me, VLC's icon shows up there, but it doesn't autoplay.
^: the same for me, no autoplay with the embed on the therapists_directory_10.html with VLC.
You could try autostart="0" instead of autostart="false"
<embed src="hypnotherapy%20syllubus.mp3" type="audio/mpeg" autostart="false" showcontrols="true" loop="false" pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" displaysize="4" autosize="-1" showtracker="-1" showdisplay="0" showstatusbar="-1" videoborder3d="-1" designtimesp="5311" class="" height="86" width="174">
Neither of you got an audio track running in the background when that page loaded? I loaded that page using a bare Profile and got an embedded audio track without touching a thing.
And it kept playing when the Indian head massage HTML video near the top of the page was (launched manually by me) with its own audio track? That's what is objectionable, IMO.
I didn't view the source code to see what file was auto-running,
Hi the-edmeister, I assume a plugin was used for the MP3. Can you tell this one, perhaps from the plugin notification icon?
Just checked it again - the audio on loading the page didn't play. And when I started the upper most video just the audio for that video played.
I don't think my 'box' will play MP3 files, no Plugins installed except for Flash and the 3 from Mozilla that are default now.
I tell you I'm not crazy - I did hear it earlier. My memory might be hazy at times, but I my hearing is fine! I may have more than a few screws loose, but my hearing is fine! ...... LOL
