one of my hotmail accounts won't now load although the others do and it won't load on my wife's thunderbird either, but it works on my phone and hotmail login

The hotmail account in question has worked fine for ages, just like the other hotmail email accounts I have on Thunderbird still do. Now Thunderbird won't log into the account in question and is continually asking me for a password and then saying the account has disconnected. My wife has exactly the same set-up as I do on her computer and the account in question does exactly the same thing on her computer as well, having previously worked fine. The outlook app on my phone can still access the account in question with no problem and I can log-in direct from the hotmail sign-in page. So presumably the problem lies with Thunderbird? Thunderbird won't let me create the same account twice and I don't want to just delete it and then try and set it up again as this is my main email account and I want it at the top of my email accounts in Thunderbird to view and not at the bottom, where it would go if I deleted and then re-established it. Help!
