Google hyperlinks in News open an interim page

Lately I've noticed several Google News hyperlinks, instead of opening the page, instead open a static page with the hyperlink typed out, for example: "Opening https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a35423435/scientists-testing-quantum-time-theory-inside-nuclear-reactor/", and under it "Close" Nothing happens. I have to click the link. Why is this happening? PC i7 1660 super 32GB RAM browser up to date.

Hmm, why is Firefox stuck there? Please make sure the redirect block is turned off:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste access and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the accessibility.blockautorefresh preference has a value of true, double-click it to restore the default value of false

Was that it?
