Saving specific website cookies with "exceptions" function

more options

I asked this before, but I do not understand the thinking/logic for the answer I got. I have a specific website I want to maintain the cookies it writes to my computer. When I enter those cookie urls into the EXCEPTIONS dialogue box/window, then set to delete history on exit from FF, why won't the exceptions save those specific cookies? I don't get why there is an exceptions function if I cannot make those exceptions apply and save my specific website cookies.

If there is no helpful answer, there is no need to reply. In any fashion. Ever.

Thanks for your consideration,

Just make sure that you keep the Site Preferences.

You can check that you aren't clearing important cookies.

  • using "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" keeps cookies with an allow exception (toggling this setting makes changes to the "Clear history when Firefox closes" settings in 102+ versions and those settings prevail)
  • using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear cookies in Firefox 102+ honors exceptions (older versions removed all cookies)

Make sure to keep the "Site Preferences".

  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exceptions for passwords and other website specific data
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Exceptions"
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history":
    [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" -> Settings

Thanks cor-el, Do you mean "Site Settings"? I don't find site preferences anywhere in FF 103.0.

Yes, they appear to have changed that label at some time from "Site Preferences" to "Site settings" (Firefox 93; bug 1721474). Current 91.x.0 ESR releases still have the old label.

cor-el,

Sorry, nope, that does NOT work in FF 103.0.1.

Checked, double checked, triple checked, does NOT save specific cookies. Wipes them ALL as before.

Sorry, Guy.

(I give up)
