Very simply if Firefox does not stop, prevent or offer a very simp[ly answer to stop Yahoo I will stop and use another browser

You did not list your add-ons. Do you have AVG? If so there are 4 settings in AVG that will force searches in Yahoo. See: http://www.avg.com/special-toolbar-how-to-disable-search-tlbrf.tpl-mcr1
