I cannot seem to be able to download any files with Firefox. I can do it with IE ok! I've reinstalled but no change.
I have just set up two new laptops. I have downloaded and installed Firefox 10.0.2 and now cannot download any files. When I try it asks me if I want to save the file, but not do I want to run it.
Nothing then happens, and nothing is downloaded.
I can download OK using IE now problem.
Any suggestions?

Hi jimtuffin,
Have you looked at the What to do if you can't download or save files Knowledge Base article. From the description of your problem, it sounds like this is exactly what you are looking for.
Hopefully this helps!
Firefox won't offer to run downloaded files directly. Firefox has never done that. In Firefox you always need to save the file and then run it afterward. That makes it possible for your security (anti-virus software) to scan the file.
Hi,
I know you have to save a file first, but when I try and down load I then click the save button. Nothing happens ... nothing is saved. The download window opens but nothing shows and nothing is saved.
On my other laptop and my main PC when I click the save button the download window opens and the file is saved ready to be executed.
I've checked all the settings for firefox on the laptop with the problem against those on the other and they seem to be exactly the same. Both laptops are the same model, loaded at the same time all with the same software.
Something strange is going on!
Any further suggestions?
Regards
Jim
OK I have solved it! Under Firefox Add-Ons I noticed an add-on called Download Manager by WiseDownloads. I had disabled it before but it did not make any difference, but I tried it again and restarted Firefox having disabled it and now the downloads seem to be working. Not sure what the download manager is, but it does not appear on my PC or other laptop!!
Thanks again for your advice.
Regards
Jim
