"Sending authenticate login information" timeout error when sending messages
Background: I'm switching email providers from Yahoo to Gmail. I'm using Thunderbird to drag and drop email from my old account and upload them to the new gmail account. I'm copying a large number of files as I need to keep 3-years of email for work, and I use the copies stored on the server as my backup in case my computer is stolen etc.
Problem: Thunderbird starts uploading a batch of messages. It runs fine for a while, saying "copying message x of x" until it encounters a message with an attachment. It then says "sending authenticate login information" for a while, then a "connection timed out" error pops up and it stops uploading.
Can anyone advise? Can I increase the timeout time somehow? Would that even help? Cheers,
Adam

try disabling email scanning in your anti virus, at lest until your done with this exercise.
Hi Matt, Cheers for the suggestion. The email module of my anti-virus is already switched off as I wanted to eliminate that as a potential cause. I don't think it's my AV causing the issue. Any other ideas?
Try in Windows safe mode?
