It woukd be nice if when inserting Mozilla Thunderbird portable on a usb stick into any pc that it would associate with any program already installed on the pc or laptop capable of sending emails.

Those associations are operating system functions. So you would be looking for the operating system to "see" a program on a USB disk, identify it, verify it as safe and update the registry of default programs to use it when the dis is plugged in. It would then need to basically reverse the process when the USB was unplugged.

But I do think it is a great idea. Please suggest it to Microsoft and Apple and perhaps they will do it.
