Have been using Thunderbird for years with several IMAP servers and have created many folders in Thunderbird to organize received mail. Suddenly all the folders disappeared - including 'sent' folder. They are all still there on the server, and are all subscribed. Tried various solutions in Thunderbird (e.g. unchecking 'subscribed folders only,' etc.) but no improvement. Only my inbox appears, and of course none of my filters work because - Thunderbird tells me - there is no such folder.

Thunderbird has recently updated. Check your anti virus firewall is not blocking the new version of Thunderbird actually accessing the internet.

Thunderbird is accessing the internet and downloading messages from the server; that's not the problem. As I said in the original post, the problem is that only the inbox appears - the twenty or so folders I had added over the years, and even the sent and trash folders, simply disappeared.
