How can I open an HTML file in Excel?

I use Salesforce.com's CRM program. A report generated in SFDC has the option of generating a 'printable version' which is automatically opened in Excel's xml format when using the I.E. brower. That option is not available when accessing SFDC with Firefox. The 'printable version' of SFDC reports is still generated in the same file format but Firefox does not offer the option to open the file with Excel.

Save that HTML file to disk, then use File > Open File in Excel to open that file in Excel.

Not a very efficient solution and definitely not a motivation to prefer/select Firefox over I.E. Why the inability to simply select Excel or other spreadsheet program to open the file? Have found FF to be a great product but this is problematic for Salesforce.com users. Tim
