most of the information is in my question. My profile space on my home computer is limited. I would like to set up Firefox so it places the profile and all other information on my external hard drive. I have tried all of the optional settings, but have not been able to solve the problem

Chosen solution

You can use the Profile Manager to create a new profile and click the Choose button to set the location of that profile on the other drive. You need to specify a new (empty) location for that profile because Firefox uses the specified location and doesn't create a new folder. This allows you to specify an already existing profile on that drive and Firefox will use it.

Thank you very much. This has been bothering me for a long time, but with the upgrade to 4.0 it made things intolerable. I appreciate your help.
