Chosen solution

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Still happens in safe mode.

Sadly there isn't a crash report as firefox doesn't realise its crashed.

Is there someway of "forcing" the crash report to grab the info even if firefox is still "running normally" ?

I cleared ~/.Mozilla/firefox/profile/<something>

Restarted firefox - resynced.

After all this was said and done it was working again - and I recalled the first time I did the sync firefox actually crashed - I'm guessing the crash effected the sqlite db.

Is now fixed.

Many Thanks.
