Questions about downloads

more options

Firstly, the new downloads dropdown and panel (which I like) have replaced the old pause button with cancel. Is this customizable (how do I change it back without changing back the old downloads?)

Secondly, as before, my download rate peaks when I quickly pause and then resume a download. Why doesn't firefox download at this faster speed permanently? When I have 3 concurrent downloads, and I do this to them, they are far faster than when I simply leave them to download.

Chosen solution

The Download Panel is not blessed with many configuration options. Perhaps someone will develop an extension to modify it?

You can find items like Pause and Resume in the right-click context menu of an item in the new Download Manager interface.

I know they can be found here, but I use them more often than cancel (because of my second question above). Is there a way to change the button (eg. in about:config)?
