Getting pop-up saying I need to update to 38.0.5 ASAP, "about" says I'm good.
When I go to Help, About and follow the link, it says Congrats! You’re using the latest version of Firefox. ( Firefox, 38.0.1) However, I am also getting a popup window that says I need to update ASAP to the latest security update which I think is 38.0.5, I didn't screen capture it. If the link in about is the correct information, where is the other window coming from and do I need to worry that I have a virus?

There is indeed a Firefox 38.0.5 out, it was released last Tuesday. But you are right to be skeptical of pop-up warnings about needing to install any software.
When you use Help > About Firefox, normally when an updated is available you will see a message, link, or button to either get the update or restart to apply the update. I don't know why your Firefox is not discovering it.
I should mention that when you visit a website, even the Firefox download page, Firefox only identifies itself using the major version number (38.0) and not the point release level, so that page cannot determine whether you have 38.0. 38.0.1, or 38.0.5 without using some other technique to dig deeper (for example, a plugin).
Anyway, if you want to update now, you can grab a full installer for Firefox 38.0.5 from this page (scroll down to your preferred language):
https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
When it starts up, the installer will detect that you have an existing Firefox installation and do an update.
