Could you first confirm that iTunes hasn't suddenly become your home page? As a test, try launching a new window using Ctrl+n. Does iTunes show up there as well?

If yes:

Change your home page setting on the Options page. Please see this article for more information:

Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings

You can test again using Ctrl+n and/or your desktop shortcut or pinned taskbar icon. Success?

If the home pages changes back the next time you completely exit out of Firefox and start it up again:

Please see this article for suggested things to check: How to fix preferences that won't save.

If no:

If the problem occurs every time you use your desktop shortcut or pinned taskbar icon, check for a hijacked shortcut using the steps at the end of this post.

If the problem only occurs at startup, one of your add-ons may be at fault. I will post some suggestions for that if relevant.

Here's the process for cleaning your Firefox shortcut if needed.

Access the Properties dialog for the shortcut. Either:

  • Desktop shortcut: right-click the icon, choose Properties
  • Pinned taskbar icon: right-click the icon, right-click Mozilla Firefox, choose Properties

Windows normally will select the Shortcut tab. If not, go ahead and click the Shortcut tab.

The Target line should not have anything after this part:

  • 64-bit Windows, standard 32-bit Firefox: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
  • Otherwise: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

If any URLs are listed after that, clear them out and save your change. To test, you can either:

  • Desktop shortcut: double-click the icon to launch a new window
  • Pinned taskbar icon: right-click the icon, click Mozilla Firefox to launch a new window

If you get your home page, it worked.

Some users have reported a faster fix for a pinned taskbar item:

  • unpin the current icon
  • go into the Start menu, right-click Mozilla Firefox, then Pin to Taskbar
