My trash folder disappeared, how do I get it back?
My thunderbird account recently quit allowing me to access my trash folder. It is still there but it is in grey and won't allow me to do anything with it. I've tried "subscribing" but there is no box for me to check. Now that this folder is unavailable I can't delete any emails. Please help!

Perhaps the 'Trash / Deleted folder is full and cannot be used until it is emptied.
I presume you cannot right click on 'Trash/Deleted' folder and select 'Empty Deleted'. check this first.
So try to force Thunderbird to empty on exit.
'Tools' > 'Account Settings' > 'Server Settings' for the account select 'Empty deleted Folder on Exit' click on OK
Close Thunderbird and wait for a short while.
then restart Thunderbird.
Can you see the 'Trash/Deleted' folder properly?
If yes, Right click on that folder and select 'Compact'.
I tried this and it didn't solve my problem. The trash folder is still there it is just grey. When I try to empty the folder it kicks back and says it can't do it. I'm at the end of my rope with TB right at this point. I've done enough reading and still can't fix this. Someone please help!
Is this a gmail account?
If yes try this:
logon to gmail webmail Open the Settings in your Gmail account and choose the 'Labels' page. Make sure that "Show in IMAP" is selected for the [gmail]Trash.
In Thunderbird, use "File->Subscribe..." to review the folder subscriptions for your Gmail account.
If the label/folder is visible in IMAP, and is subscribed, you should be able to select it for Trash.
I have the same problem when I install thunderbird 31.0. When I reinstall back thunderbird 26.4 everything is normal. Reinstall againg thunderbird 31.0 and trash folder disappeared. I do not use gmail and my trash folder is empty. Any solution?
