Where was the drop-down? Maybe it was a feature added by an add-on.

Sometimes an add-on will be disabled during an upgrade if it is not compatible with the new version of Firefox. You can check by opening Firefox's Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then scroll down; the disabled extensions appear at the bottom of the list on a gray background. Does anything translation-related appear there?

In some cases, an add-on might stop working correctly, but to suggest solutions we would need to know which one it is.

Another common issue is if you used the Refresh/Reset feature, then add-ons are removed and you would need to reinstall it again.
