After updating to Firefox 38.0.1, Firefox has been unusable. There's around a 5 second delay to anything I do. Disabling everything didn't fix things. Reinstalling and refreshing also did not do anything. When Firefox runs in safe mode, it works fine though. Any ideas?

Hi! I have the exact same problem! I have updated all the add-ons, made more space for cache. No change.

It's absolutely unusble. I will have to change into a different browser and it makes me really sad. It affects my work.

I'm sorry but 'update your windows' is not a sufficient answer for me. I should be able to choose if I want to spend time and effort on making changes in my operating system, or do i want to switch off the firefox option than demands it.

I prefer to switch it off. Is there an option for that, please?

Many thanks, Beata

Update Windows means to install all Windows updates, not buy a new version of Windows. Windows updates are free

Have you tried Turning off hardware acceleration?

more options

Hey! Turning off worked!!! Thank you!!

Honestly, I spent almost 11h to fix every single thing I thought might help. It turned out I had no Service pack installed, old drivers and different graphic card than i paid for. Yey! But nothing helped. I have only basic graphic card, no options for acceleration.

But turning off hardware acceleration helped. Thank you!

Just as an update, after investigation of general hardware acceleration issues there is an update going out today that should resolve this. The new version will be 38.0.5 beta on June 2nd*. Thank you for your patience, please do report back if there are any further issues.

(*please note the update in this post for the change in release channel also subject to change)
