Thunderbird HTML Tab
Greetings,
Occurrence #2 18 Dec 2021: For the second time the HTML edit tab is again disabled following the update to Thunderbird 91.4.0 on 15 December 2021, even thought I made a $20 donation (see below). Do you have any idea why this continues to occur following every Thunderbird update?
Occurrence #1 21 Nov 2021: On 2021-10-20 07:08 (GMT -08:00) I made a donation (Transaction ID: 8sp6q3s7) of $20.00 (Paypal) to Mozilla/Thunderbird to allow access to the HTML edit tab. After updating to version 91.3.2 a couple of days ago my HTML edit tab access has been disabled (black screen) and the "consider making a donation" statement is once again displayed in red at the bottom of the page. Is a donation going to be required after every Thunderbird update in order to access the HTML edit tab? (this occurrence cleared on its own a few days later. ???)
Thank you!

I just installed ThunderHTMLedit in TB 91.4/W10, and it adds an HTML edit tab in the Write window. Is that the same add-on?

I have the HTML Tab, but the background is blacked-out, and I have already made a donation.
28 Dec 2021: For the third time, the HTML edit tab is again blacked-out/disabled following the update to Thunderbird 91.4.1 and the "consider making a donation" statement is once again displayed in red text at the bottom of the page even though I've already made a $20 donation (see below).

re :I made a donation.....to Mozilla/Thunderbird to allow access to the HTML edit tab.
Making a donation to 'Thunderbird' is for the ongoing general development and bug fixing etc in Thunderbird program and not for any specific bug. Your contribution is welcomed and appreciated.
But you seem to be talking about an addon extension which I'm presuming is the addon sfhowes mentioned. The addon is the responsibility of the author and not Thunderbird. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/thunderhtmledit/ ThunderHTMLedit 3.1.18 by Jorg K
Are you using the up to date version - 3.1.18 ?
Info says: This add-on is free software. However, after a while it will request to make a donation. People who have paid the minimum suggested contribution (US$ 5.99) will receive a license code to stop further reminders.
When you made the donation, did you go the the link for 'ThunderbirdHTMLedit' and click on the 'Contribution' link ? Can you post an image of the text : the "consider making a donation" statement is once again displayed in red text at the bottom of the page. I would imagine the text has a link, but what is the link - what http link is opened?
I'm wondering if you made the donation to Jorg or to Thunderbird. If you really did make the donation to Jorg then it would be a good idea to tell him about your problem. Because you should have received a license code. At that same 'ThunderbirdHTMLedit' link, there is a 'Support Email' which is the developers email address. Have you sent an email to the author explaining the problem?
However, if you made a donation to Thunderbird then that would also explain why you have not received a license code. This is the link to the Thunderbird donation page: https://give.thunderbird.net/en-GB/?utm_source=start_page_tb_release&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=heading Did you make the donation at that link instead?
