Thunderbird calendars
I have been using thunderbird for years and have 2 lightning calendars. These are stored locally in home/.thunderbird on Ubuntu - currently 24.01.1LTS, TB version just updated to 128.3.0esr. About a week ago I stopped being able to save calendar events, getting the message
An error occurred when writing to the calendar Home! Please see below for more information. Error code: MODIFICATION_FAILED. Description: Failed to write to calendar file file:///home/alasdair/.thunderbird/Home.ics: Could not create unique file in `/home/alasdair/.thunderbird' (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED)
I have uninstalled and reinstalled thunderbird to no effect. As I am the only user of the machine all prcesses run as me, the .thunderbird directory is owned by me and I have all permissions on it, as I have for all files in the directory. I can create and edit files there no problem. I have no idea how to d=fix this.

Thank you Matt. Armed with this understanding I stopped trying to get that calendar to be writable and just imported to a new calendar with the same name, then deleted the old. All working fine now.

The new version of Ubuntu uses snap packs of applications which lock the Thunderbird process into a sandbox. I guess you're having issues with the sandbox.

I’m having problems with Thunderbird and Google Calendar on Manjaro and I’m definitely not using a snap.
Moilleadoir I'm afraid i know nothing about Manjaro but is your problem with calendars and if so did you try the solution of creating a new calendar and importing the old ics file into it?
