Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Also try ABP

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

before i spend all day trying stuff, can you tell me if this is just guessing ?

has this exact or related problem ever been caused by malware?

and have any of these shotgun-approach remedies fixed it?

why is it really doing that?

Could you kindly tell me what are the other sites from which you receive that message?

cnet.com

sometimes when i click a link

you would think it;s obvious that a link would go to a new page but i get the warning anyway

then hundreds of other links don;t do that

oh.. never mind.. i see your first response was a common response.. so that is unlikely to do anything.. particularly since it started right after i got FF v24.. and i run those frequently and am behind corporate firewalls.. and there are no internet mentions of that in relation to this issue..

The answer to that question is in the article i linked in my last post.

If this doesnt work, please give a screenshot and try to clear cache and cookies.

To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

SCREENSHOT, if neither above works.

See the How do I create a screenshot of my problem? article

Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. This will help us to visualize the problem.

The exact message is "this webpage has been redirected" and that's it? Where does the message appear?

(Firefox has a feature to warn you before redirecting -- the one you made sure was turned off -- but doesn't tell you there was a redirect after the fact.)

Could this be a feature of your security software or a company proxy server?

Is this unique to your computer or are others in your office experiencing the same messages?
