Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Thanks! It worked magically. Is this a known issue ? Why could hardware acceleration create problems like these ?

A lot (most) of such issues with displaying text are caused by problems with hardware acceleration in Firefox.
Not all display drivers are fully compatible with the current Firefox release.
