Clicking a link in an e-mail will not start up Firefox. Clicking the same link multiple times, causes multiple occurrences of Firefox to display as "running" in The Windows Task manager. I have to go into Task Manager and close all these then start Firefox from the Task Bar, and then click the link in the message to follow the link. Both Internet Explorer (11) and Chrome will open just by clicking the e-mail message link.

This is a new problem with Firefox as it worked as described above prior to update 29. I am now running update 30.

What type of link are you clicking, and where is it? Isn't Firefox already open when you're seeing this link which needs to be click?

Hello, Tony98. Thank you for your reply. To clarify my question, Firefox is not running. I receive an e-mail containing a link (http://www.XXX.com) in my E-mail program. Clicking that link should start Firefox. It doesn't. Nothing appears on the screen. However, Windows Task Manager shows Firefox running. To get it to display on screen, I must stop the task, then minimize the e-mail display, and start Firefox. I have been getting an error as follows "C:\Program Files(x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" R6034 Application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Contact the applications support team for more information. I hope this helps. Thanks.

I see nothing in the topics the link furnished as to how to fix this problem. From the error message it appears that there is a problem in the Firefox code. Again, Internet Explorer and Chrome both work the way Firefox did prior t update 29.

Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences

Then Applications.

This list tells Firefox what to do with what type of file or action. Look for Mail To and check its options.

Now, on the computer; Windows > Start. On the bottom is a search box. Type Default. On the new list, click Default Programs. Click Set Default Programs. Look for the program you want to use, click it, and select Set This Program As Default.

Fred, I did this as per your instructions; but it still does not work. Still have to end Firefox from the Task manager and then restart Firefox. My mail program is set as the Default but clicking a link will not bring up Firefox. This problem just started after update 29. Prior to that everything worked fine.

You selected both your mail, and Firefox as default.

Open your mail program. Go to its options. Check ALL the settings.

Good morning, Fred, I have checked all you suggested and everything is set as you said. I keep getting an error code R6034 telling me that an application has made an attempt to load the C Library incorrectly. Contact the applications support team. If Firefox is running and I click on an E-mail link everything works fine. It just will not start from the message link. Again, both Internet Explorer 11 and Chrome work fine. All their settings are the same as Firefox's. I appreciate your help.

I had a very brief experience of this today, so now I understand what you're speaking about. As it was only temporary I really didn't figure out the cause, but I wonder if you could try re-starting your computer. This seems to be a simple fix for many issues.

Fred, Many thanks for trying. I still think there is a problem with the Firefox Code, not the program settings. Just as an aside, I have a printing problem with Firefox where it overprints a utility bill I receive once a month. The solution for that, from the bill provider, was "Use another browser" as other customers have has similar problems. Take care, Fred and thanks again.Bill

Hello Tony, Yes, I have done many "cold starts" after resetting the various settings in Firefox without any success. As I mentioned to Fred, below, I believe the problem is a code problem in Firefox not a settings issue. Hopefully,some of the folks who maintain the program will read this and check the code. Everything works just fine in Internet Explorer and Chrome (without changing any settings). Thanks for you help,my friend, it is appreciated. Bill
