For a couple of months I have found with a number of different sites that variously but frequently their pages fail to display or partly display at the first attempt. It requires a page refresh (and sometimes more than one) for the page to display properly. I tried a Reset in Firefox, under Troubleshooting, but if anything that seemed to make things worse! I am concerned that my web access is being incercepted and that is why the pages are being slow or failing to appear.

(I tried to accept your request fro troubleshooting info, but it said the connection to your site failed!)

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

  • Clear the Cache

Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

and

  • Remove Cookies

Warning ! ! This will log you out of all sites you're logged in to. Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences

Then Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. There is a button on the right side called Show Cookies.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences

Then Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?. Then restart.

Thanks I cleared the Cache and set Use Hardware Acceleration off. But I couldn't get anything with Alt or F10 key, so I haven't removed any Cookies. But I am concerned about Warning ! ! This will log you out of all sites you're logged in to! I would prefer to be selective on which cookies I remove.

After making the above changes things are no better (I restarted Firefox, but have not yet rebooted the PC). If anything things are even a bit worse with more regular pages failing at first access, then needing one or two refreshes to obtain the full page!

Any more help you can offer would be appreciated
