I'm getting really irritated here. Firefox decided to update my browser automatically instead of giving me the option to keep the previous version. I always leave multiple tabs open whenever I exit the Firefox browser. The restore previous session option was great because I could just click on it and pick up where I left off. NOW I can't. The 'Restore previous session' option from the drop down menu is always unclickable (in grey) and when I try to restore my tabs from the about:home page the restore previous session button is gone. I even tried selecting 'show my windows and tabs from last time' in the general section of the options menu, but it still only shows my homepage when I reopen the browser. I tried going to about:config and resetting all of the sessionstore options back to default, but that hasn't made a difference. My privacy setting are currently set to remember all history, so I really have no idea what the problem is. I've looked at all of the related forum threads and tried using the solutions provided in them but none of them are working. Has this happened to ANYONE else?

Hello,

I recommend using FVD Speed Dial . As an option for a new tab page (what it is used for) there is a Restore Session button that you can click that will restore recent tabs from last time. I have found this helpful since I have the same issue as you sometimes when Firefox updates. This addon will always have your Restore Session button on it (new tab page), even if Firefox updates or you restart your computer, it will still restore your recent tabs.

Hope this helps!

I really appreciate the reply, but I was hoping there was some way I could do this without having to download anymore extensions or software or anything like that. There has to be an some sort of on/off button somewhere that I'm just not seeing. It's driving me crazy! Do you have any other solutions? Thanks.

Can you reopen closed tabs and windows?

  • History > Recently Closed Tabs/Windows

Use "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit) to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes":

  • do not clear the Browsing History

Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.

Wow, exiting from the file menu actually did the trick. You're a lifesaver Cor-el! Thanks!
