Why is firefox finding www.washingtonpost.com to be unsafe as a connetion when for past 5 years it has been safe?

more options

I use Firefox to access yahoo where I read downloads/summaries from the Washington Post. Now when I click to get the full article Firefox says the link is not safe. WHY and what changed? I have done this without any problems for years. Thank you.

It works just fine for me, have you tried checking your date and time? Can you give the full error message?

I will send error message next time I get a post from the W.Post. When I went into my Trashed emails each article would then open normally. I do not think anything is weird in my date/time as I have made no changes. Thank you for responding, I will post as soon as I get another warning.

Still check your date and time, it can get thrown off by power issues (especially on older machines, which it looks like yours is)

You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.

  • Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
  • Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate"
  • Click the "View" button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer.

You can see more details like the intermediate certificates that are used in the Details tab.

I did check time/date. Thank you for repeating advice ... I did need to hear it again. That does seem to be registering correctly. The message says the certificate does not match correctly. Know I need to send copy of message and will as soon as possible. THANKS!!!

warning says: This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect securely to www.washingtonpost.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified. What Should I Do?

If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue. WHen I say add exception it gives a location of, in this instance "https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/get-there/the-remarkable-life-and-lessons-of-ronald-read/2015/04/24/7c12a26a-e944-11e4-9a6a-c1ab95a0600b_story.html?wpisrc=nl_evening&wpmm=1" and when I push get certificate it shows a certificate issued to the Washington Post valid 3/18/15 through some date in 2017. It will not let me copy this information. I certainly do not want to do an Add Exception for each article I ask to see in a digest. What is up and why all at once is this sometimes happening in the inbox but not when the digest goes to TRASH. IS this the Post or Firfox or what at work? MANY THANKS!!!
