When I type a message to send. I can not change the text color, nor can I add an emoticon. I can change the letter size, make it bold, italicize and underline.

If you are talking about an email message, Firefox doesn't "do" email.

If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, let us know and we can move this thread to the Thunderbird queue. This question currently is in the Firefox queue for answers.

The problem is with Thunderbird. I solved the problem by starting Thunderbird with all add-ons disabled. Now I just have to figure out which add-on is causing the problem.
