I've used Thunderbird for years without a problem, but suddenly I can't send emails - receive them ok. I think this started after an update to 45.0 If I start TB in safe mode I can send ok.

I deleted them all, and then couldn't remember all the ones I had! But I think it was 'Lightning' causing the problem.

Yes, this happens quite a lot. It may be simply because your add-ons were designed for an earlier version: try removing them and adding them again with the Extensions Manager so that you get the latest versions. Bear in mind also that add-ons are often developed by individuals, sometimes as a hobby, so they may not yet have got around to updating the code to work with the new version.
