How can I stop my latest searches from being displayed as soon as I click in the search box?

I don't want to clear all my history, but I don't want to see my most recent searches when I click into the search box on the page (not the search box on the address bar). If i choose "Remove", it removes that one search but then just shows the next 6 searches. I don't want to see this at all, how can I stop this from happening.

Those are probably generic search suggestions.

Open up Options > Search and deselect Provide search suggestions and Show search suggestions in address bar results and see if those search suggestions are gone and your search history is displayed.

Confusing for me right now, still getting used to all the changes. So I'm not certain that will help you.

Thanks, I did try this and unfortunately it didn't work. Looked at all the options and didn't see anything else that might apply. I'm thinking I may have to change it in about:config but don't know what to change and worried about messing stuff up!
