If you do about:config you get the Mozilla code. You will see that Mozilla is sending EVERYTHING to Google, probably to check your search against Google's self appointed white list. Google sells everything. Which means every use of Mozilla is tracked, even if you use an untrackable browser like DuckDuckGo. I do not want Google to see or know of my search's. How do I replace or remove references to Chrome in Mozilla so the program functions but Google is not seeing it. Google is insidious nasty stuff and should not be allowed to exist.

Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are completely separate web browsers.

DuckDuckGo is a search engine and not a web browser.

You can change the search engine default and and add/remove search engines in Firefox.

As said the Chrome part of Firefox and chrome:// urls existed in Mozilla stuff for over a decade before Google Chrome web browser was Released. The browser we know as Firefox (was called Phoenix 0.1 then) existed for six years before Google Chrome.

about:config is not the Mozilla code as it lists the application settings. Some Preferences get modified when you make changes in the Firefox Options (or Preferences on Mac and Linux). Some Preferences can only be modified in about:config or are hidden in that you need to manually add it.

To clarify, Firefox isn't sending data to Google Chrome. What I assume you are seeing is certain settings or pages that have "chrome" in the name. This has nothing to do with Google Chrome.

Web browsers have two main parts. The chrome and the content. The content is that websites that are being rendered and the chrome is the interface of the browser itself. Therefore, there are a lot of internal files and pages in Firefox that may have "chrome" in the name. (See definition).

The term "chrome" has existed long before the creation of Google Chrome. That's actually where the name "Google Chrome" came from.

The only other thing that you could be seeing in the about:config page are the settings for Google Safe Browsing. This is a service, designed by Google, that will display a warning if you try to access a page that's been marked as unsafe.

Although it's not recommended, you can disable this feature by disabling the Block dangerous and deceptive content setting in your Firefox settings. For more information on how this feature works, please refer to How does built-in Phishing and Malware Protection work?

Obviously, you are concerned about your privacy online, which is great! Privacy is something that's really important to Mozilla. For more information about privacy on Firefox and how Mozilla handles your privacy, here are some links to read more:

Jame and Wesley Thank you both for taking me to school (I did know DDG was a browser. The point I was trying to make was using DDG while inside Mozilla made me think that despite using DDG, Mozilla was sending the stuff to Google. You have clarified). Your responses are much appreciated and I now feel much better about using Mozilla I hate and fear Google and wish it was blown up. Chris
