Seriously though, it's 2019. You finally killed autoplay videos (great job on that by the way). It's time to default notifications to "nope." Perhaps you could make a single button that lets people opt into letting websites push THE OPTION TO HAVE notifications. However, this invasive horseshit that nobody likes needs to go away, and y'all are just the people to do away with it.

Seriously great job on killing autoplay vids though. That was a real cancer. GREAT WORK!!!

Hello deatheragefarms,

There are may ways to allow or block notifications - would you please take a look at this article .....

Another thing you can do :

Type in the addresss bar about:config and press Enter (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the search bar : dom.webnotifications.

and look for the preferences :

dom.webnotifications.serviceworker.enabled

dom.webnotifications.enabled

Set their values to false

If you had to change anything, then close and restart Firefox.

I realize that this does not provide the simple 'opt-in / opt-out' button that you would like to see, but it's very difficult to keep everybody happy (so many people; so many different wishes .... ).

If you want to, you could submit your suggestion on one (or all) of these :

Discourse  : https://discourse.mozilla.org/c/firefox-development

Reddit  : https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/

There is also a checkbox on the "Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security" page under "Permissions -> Notifications -> Settings" to block further notifications.
