I have both Firefox 32 bit and Firefox 64 bit installed in my Win 10 system. I want to set Firefox 64 bit as default browser for the system, but the option for the same is not available in the Default Apps of Windows 10. It sets the 32 bit version as the default browser, which doesn't open when 64 bit Firefox is open.

Can someone help me set Firefox 64 bit as default browser?

Due to some reason when I opened FF 32bit, the shortcut to FF 64bit became non functional.

I tried directly opening the FF 64bit and all my user data went off.

I uninstalled FF 32bit by going into the installed location and running the uninstaller.

Installed the FF 64bit again. Now the only issue was my user data had gone. I restored it by copy the profile data inside the AppData folder in the system user directory.

Good thing FF doesn't delete that folder.

See if these help; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1207775 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1208759#answer-1086882 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-change-your-default-browser-windows-10 https://www.bing.com/search?q=change+default+browser+windows+10&pc=MOZI&form=MOZSBR

All of these solutions tell to go to settings and change there. Funny thing is the FF 64bit was not coming as installed for some reason. I think an update to FF 32bit broke FF 64bit installation.

I have sorted the issue by reinstalling. Thanks for the help.

But I would recommend people not to user FF 32bit and FF64bit simultaneously as it will cause issues like this.

That was very good work. Well done. Please flag your https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1260731#answer-1228073 post as Solved Problem so others will know.

There is a way to have more than one version of Firefox running. Each, however, requires its own profile and programs folder.
