uBlock Origin has prevented the following page from loading:

http://www.googleadservices.com/

Please explain the problem in detail. What happens? What is/are the exact error message(s) ?

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at www.googleadservices.com. That is the error message I get. When I try to connect to sites other than amazon and the like they will not load and I get that message.

Hi dave, does that message take over the entire tab, or did you find it in the Web Console?

If you are following a paid ad link, perhaps it would make sense for the ad server to play a central role in getting to that page. However, I wouldn't that would come up very often. ??

Hi, Jeff, yes it takes up the whole tab, I'm not sure what you mean by "web console" . I am following paid ads I do a google search and then pick a vendor if its amazon no problem, any one else its the message Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at www.googleadservices.com. I have disabled extensions, run firefox in safe mode, disabled firewalls and I'm totally lost.

Hi Dave, I'm guessing the problem is with "Shopping" results, since regular ("organic") web results shouldn't be routed through that kind of link.

Well, hmm. Thank you for testing in Firefox's Safe Mode. Here are some other ways that you might get that kind of error:

Enhanced Tracking Protection

ETP usually that applies to embedded content and not links. Still, if you have a purple shield at the left end of the address bar, you could click that and see whether the server is being blocked there.

Web Filtering Software

Numerous security programs have a feature to intercept your browser connection to filter out security concerns and various annoyances. Products with this feature include Avast, AVG, BitDefender, Bullguard, ESET / nod32, Kaspersky, and the parental control software Microsoft Family Safety. If you use a program like this, normally I would think it would cause the same issue in all of your browsers, but maybe not?

DNS-based Filter

This could be a feature of your security software, parental control software, your router, or an external service such as OpenDNS/Cisco Umbrella.

Also, if you have added anything to your Windows hosts file, take a look in there to see whether this server is redirected.

As a test to bypass your current DNS service, you could test "DNS over HTTPS" (DOH). Conversely, if you are using DOH now, you could try switching it off. More info in this article: Firefox DNS-over-HTTPS.
