Steps: - Type anything into address bar (or navigate to a webpage) - Select any text in address bar - Copy the text (either with Ctrl+C or right-click menu) - Try to paste in any app besides Firefox

Expected behavior: - The copied text will paste

Outcome: - No text is pasted - No new entry is shown in the KDE clipboard

Any link on any webpage that I try to copy also exhibits this behavior. However, if I just select normal text on a webpage and copy it, everything works as intended. Maybe there's an issue with copying things that Firefox labels as "links"?

I'm not able to replicate your issue. see screenshot It's also on my clipboard. see screenshot Have you tried Firefox in Safe Mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode#search Also try the same in X11 and not Wayland.

Try downloading Firefox from Mozilla, run firefox-bin from the folder and see if you have the same issue. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

So I've tried the binary you linked to, as well as the flatpak version of FireFox, and even a FireFox fork (LibreWolf). Every single one exhibits this same bugged behavior. However, all chromium-based browsers I try work as expected. I'm pretty dead-set on using Wayland, but I can try X11 later.

My current system specs (I've updated since my original post) ``` Operating System: Fedora Linux 38 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.6 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.107.0 Qt Version: 5.15.10 Kernel Version: 6.3.8-200.fc38.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × 12th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1260P Memory: 15.3 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® Graphics Manufacturer: Framework Product Name: Laptop (12th Gen Intel Core) System Version: A6 ```

Hi gabeklav,

Thank you for reaching out to the Firefox Support Forum. I understand that you are experiencing an issue with copying and pasting text from the address bar in Firefox 114.0 on Fedora. I'll be happy to assist you with this.

Based on your description, it seems that you are unable to paste text copied from the address bar in any application outside of Firefox. This behavior is unexpected, and it's important to investigate the possible causes.

To start troubleshooting this issue, I would suggest trying the following steps:

Clear the Clipboard: Sometimes, the clipboard can become corrupted, leading to issues with copying and pasting. Clearing the clipboard may help resolve this. You can do this by restarting your computer or using a clipboard management tool to clear the clipboard history.

Update Firefox: Ensure that you are using the latest version of Firefox. Outdated versions may have known issues that could be causing this problem. You can check for updates by going to the Firefox menu (three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner) > Help > About Firefox.

Try Safe Mode: Start Firefox in Safe Mode to temporarily disable any extensions or themes that could be interfering with the copy and paste functionality. To do this, go to the Firefox menu > Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled. In Safe Mode, test if you can copy and paste from the address bar successfully.

Create a New Firefox Profile: Sometimes, issues can be related to a corrupt profile. Creating a new profile can help determine if the problem is specific to your profile. You can create a new profile by running the Firefox Profile Manager. Instructions for accessing the Profile Manager can be found on the Mozilla support website.

Please try these steps and let me know if the issue persists or if you have any further questions. I'll be here to assist you further.

Wayland... Just for testing purposes you need to check in X11 and see if you have the same issue. Also, when you copy from Firefox, is it showing in your clipboard? see screenshot

Yup, it works fine on X11. I'll try messing with legacy application settings in KDE.

And no, it does not show up in my clipboard when the copy fails.

So sounds like it's a problem with Firefox engine on Wayland KDE.

I was able to do it under Wayland. see screenshot

Just for testing, I would boot up a usb live stick or VM and see if you have the same issues. I also found this... https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/copy-paste-problem-from-firefox-not-sure-where-the-problem-lies/73729

Did you also test under a different user account?

Interesting, using a new Standard (non-admin) user, I am able to copy and paste under wayland, and the copied material does appear in the clipboard.

So it has something to do with some configuration/application running for my main user? Strange.
