If you close Firefox, then start Firefox in Safe Mode, does the problem still occur? For instructions on starting in Safe Mode, see Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

Restarted in Safe Mode and still no X to close tab. I looked at a post on Colorful Tabs and another person had the same problem. Colorful Tabs stated it was not their problem.

I did a system restore back to May 24 and I now have the X. Windows is now downloading an automatic update. I guess I'll see if that screws it up

Just noticed that the theme I've had for a few years is no longer on my FireFox page after the system restore. It went to the default theme and the theme I had (walnut) is no longer available.

Same problem No "x" on that tabs.

These issues are usually due to third-party themes, but Safe Mode always uses the default theme.
