I'd like to delete my bookmarks file from this computer before I turn it over to another user. But when I look in my profile folder, the bookmarks file is just the default Firefox bookmarks and doesn't contain any of the bookmarks I've saved in the past year (which do appear in my bookmarks menu, so I know they're being saved somewhere ... I just can't find where!). I see no other .html files in my profile folder, and I've searched my entire C drive for files with the word "bookmark", and it still doesn't come up. Any suggestions??

Firefox 3 stores the bookmarks and the browser history in places.sqlite and no longer creates an HTML backup by default.

There are also (five) JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder within the Firefox profile folder.

Although possibly not related to your problem, I have to remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment has been discontinued and is no longer supported. On top of this, it has known unpatched bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum security, stability, performance and usability. You can get it for free, as always, at getfirefox.com.
