Is there an Autofill feature for quickly completing the most common website fields with stored personal information?

Most other browsers offer this feature, but I have not yet discovered it on any of the Firefox menus, nor is it listed as a feature in Help or in the forums. If the Autofill feature is not available in 3.6.x or 4.x, are there any compatible add-ons or extensions that offer this feature?

See:

If you need more features then look at an extension like this one:

Hi Cor-el, and thanks for your post. I have since checked and saw that this was already correctly set to 'Remember search and form history."

Maybe the functionality of remembering field content for forms in Firefox is limited to remembering previous entries, which Firefox uses by offering the user an opportunity to select from a drop-down list of suggestions for the field's data, if the data had been submitted within 90 days of one's last visit to the same website. previously submitted earlier. If Firefox's retention of a form's field entries creates a pool of possible suggestions on a site-by-site basis (data is stored only for use with a site's forms that have already been submitted). I have seen how the auto-fill feature works in most other browsers. It retains many fields of personal information that one can opt to fill out at the time of installation or after it. When you use other browsers to open a web page that contains a form with empty fields, they copy data you had entered into the main form at set-up. I wish that Firefox could also leverage data from a single centralized "main form" designed to retain previously submitted field content based on matching field names (e.g. "first_name"/"last_name"), ("street_address"), (city, state, postal code, tel #, etc). I will install the add-on using the link that you generously provided, and test it out to see if it works as described. Other users left a few negative comments about how it tended to fill in form fields incorrectly using data that really belonged in other fields. I do think that Firefox should provide this feature as it could manage one's personal data more safely from within its own GUI. Thanks again for taking interest in my question and for such a prompt response. -Paul

I upgraded (after completely removing Firefox) and though I'd lost 'AutoFill' but I wasn't remembering correctly. The 'AutoFill' that I was thinking of wasn't part of Firefox, it is a feature on the Google Toolbar.

I added the Google Toolbar and now, there it is!
