Cache: possible to save in folders chronologically & include extensions?

Hi. I'd like to avoid downloading pics & vids twice since they're already downloaded when viewed, into the cache. Despite the randomised folder structure, I can dig the files out using ubuntu's 'gnome search tool', narrowing by date and size (by not file extension, so far as I've tried). From there I can drag the results into a folder BUT the names are randomised and the extensions removed. THe second bit's the problem: the renaming program i use (metamorphose2) can't handle extensionless files at the moment and it's too time consuming to manually rename all of them. If it possible to: 1. Force FF to cache by folder chronologically? 2. Force FF to preserve filenames inc extensions? 3. Force FF to preserve extensions?

(I've just tried Cacheviewer Continued which is nice insofar as it shows the original filenames and websites, but it opens everything, and since i have a big cache, it's a memory hole)

Firefox itself can show you what is in the cache. Just type about:cache into the address bar.

You can look at this extension for easier access to files in the cache.
