I'm trying to complete an online application form on a website. When I complete the form with all the info / press ok to complete, a window pops-up with a "admin.cgi" message with:

You have chosen to open: admin.cgi which is a: cgi File from: http://xxxxx.xxxx

What should Firefox do with this file?

Open with - [Browse] (button)

-or-

Save File - - Do this automatically for files like this from now on

[OK] (button) [Cancel] (button)

And I can not continue..

It is some kind of script, and I think it should not be presented to you like that. You should communicate with whoever is running the site and advise them of the problem.

Make sure that a Firefox extension or your security software isn't blocking content or modifies the Firefox request headers or the response headers from the server.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Hello (cor-el) ! - - I appreciate the quick response to my inquiry. I followed the directions you wrote down for me but I was still getting the same "admin.cgi" window and [it] still would not allow me to complete the online appplicaton form.

I also read the other reponse from the next person who tried to help me (finitarry), who stated that it may be the fault of the website itself with a script error for the application form. I tried two other computers at my home and I was getting the same (error?) "admin.cgi" window. So, that may be the case. Therefore, I have contacted the website for help if it is an error at their end.

Thanks - sknayfan27

Hi, (finitarry?) - Thank you for your response to my inquiry. I have contacted the website about my problem. I also tried 2 different computers in my home and I was getting the same (error?) window -- "admin.cgi" and not able to complete the online application of that website.

Sincerely, sknayfan27
