Why is Norton 360 toolbar disabled and incompatible with Firefox?

I recently switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox 26 - I have the most recent updates for both products, but my Norton toolbar will not enable - the add-on extension states it is incompatible with Firefox, even though the Norton site claims it is compatible. The Norton Vulnerability Protection was also disabled, but after checking for updates in the toolbox, it was enabled. Is my Norton working while browsing in Firefox, and when will my Norton toolbar be available?

Norton has had updates for their toolbar extensions ever since Firefox 26.0 was released December 10.

Some say it is best to do live updates before the new Firefox update. You may have to do live update multiple times to get extension to work.

Went to the link provided, which said there was a patch available. Ran Norton Live Update again, this time it downloaded a patch, went into add-ons and was able to enable Norton toolbar. Thank you James.

Norton just released information that they will support FF 27. http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Toolbar-Norton-Identity/Firefox-27-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/td-p/1089865
I have been struggling with upgrading to FF 27 to get the Norton Toolbar. But I am not wild about the awesome toolbar. But it is better than Google Chrome and IE 9. I have Windows Vista.

I found the ftp site with all the Firefox programs. I have Windows Vista and do not plan to update to Windows 7 or 8. Firefox 24.3.0 (Windows Vista)

Search Mozilla older versions. One of the hits will be ftp. It was trial and error. I did know that I needed "en" for the English and 32 win. I am not that swift with computer language. But it got me to where I wanted and what I needed to do the work online that I have not choice because I have to be green for the government.

It allowed me to use Norton's Toolbar with the Identity Safe where all my passwords are.

On FF 27 I had to open a separate window and check out all my password sites. This was so inconvenient.

I am not that computer savvy, but I was getting annoyed with all the updates to FF and I have Vista. What will happen when FF quits working with Vista?

FF 27 and Windows 7 user. Updated to Norton Internet Security 21 caused FF Norton toolbar to become "incompatible".

Found out that LiveUpdate doesn't install every patch in one pass - you have to run LiveUpdate repeatedly until it stops saying "patch available, apply now?" (or similar words).

Based on professional experience, my educated guess is that patches have to be applied in a certain order or the whole process gets wrapped around the axle. This could be Norton's least risky way of controlling that. Unfortunately it's terribly hard on the casual non-techie user.

Hope this helps.

P.S. I know it's a pain, but Vista users need to seriously consider upgrading to Win 7 or 8. Support for your issues will just get more and more difficult to find and patches will be non-existent.

lshreve,

Thank you fore responding. I have re-installed FF 24.3.0 and it accepts Norton toolbar so that I can use the vault to log onto all my important sites.

At this time, I cannot update to Windows 7 or 8. I have heard good and bad about both. I do not use the computer that much. And I have read several comments from others that still use FF 3.6. That was a surprise. It would have to be on XP. That was the only good working OS that I have ever used. User friendly and never had problems. IE worked just as well as FF. All these new updates with computers and electronics are too much for me to learn. I am getting older and do not like a lot of change.

Need patch for Norton toolbar and version 30.0

As was posed in earlier posts you may need to do Liveupdate in Norton multiple times to get their patch for their toolbar extension to work.

Norton has had a update for Firefox 30.0 ever since Firefox 30.0 was released on June 10.
