Version 29 Beta 2 won't work properly with Trusteer Rapport, which my bank wants me to use.

Thanks for your prompt answer. I must be getting old or I'd have thought of that!

You mean Trusteer Rapport does not support the Firefox 29.0 Beta channel builds.

Many Extensions and products only support current Firefox Releases at most and not Beta and also the more bleeding edge Aurora, Nightly development builds.

Thanks - yes, Trusteer gave me much the same answer when I queried it with them.

Won't work with the release version either.

This means I have to waste my FREAKIN BANDWIDTH

AGAIN

to download something I ALREADY HAD

to fix something that WASN'T BROKEN

Why does Mozilla have this compulsion to come up with a new major release of FF EVERY FIVE MINUTES

It's FREAKIN ANNOYING

When I went back to V28 it worked fine. Now I've upgraded to the full V29 it still works correctly. So I don't understand your above post.

OK well... I upgraded to 29, and logged onto my bank. Got the warning message that I should be using Trusteer - which I have been doing for years. Looked at the address bar, and no green arrow. Concluded it was broken.

So I followed the instructions to (re) install Rapport - which asked me "you already have this, why do you want to install it again?", so I replied ok repair it, it doesn't work.

Then after install completed I still don't have the green arrow. So I went on a rant. Apparently that is no longer applicable, because I just logged onto the bank and didn't get the warning.

But I still don't get the constant new releases thing. It's ANNOYING. I have about 4 computers, and support 50 more, and it seems just about every second time I sit down at ANY of them there's a NEW DAMN VERSION. Tiring.

Of course Mozilla is not alone in this. Java and Adobe are just as guilty. So between the three of them you are pretty much guaranteed that EVERY time you start something on one of those computers there is going to be an update.

That's a bit odd. I've got the grey arrow that changes to green when I'm on a registered site.

And as for the relatively frequent upgrades, I fancy that they are mostly security fixes, as I expect Java and Adobe are too. As all these organisations provide these upgrades free, why have MS stopped supporting XP, especially as MS have enormous resources? But that's all for another thread!!
