If Firefox goes into full screen view, it will take over the screen and block out the toolbars. To see whether that is the problem, you can press the F11 function key to switch between full screen and normal views.

Windows also has a keyboard shortcut to close the current window, which is Alt+F4. So that may help you close windows where you can't see the normal controls.

Does that help?

You mean the red X button in the top right corner of any given window? That could be a problem with hardware acceleration or an add-on.

You can exit Firefox in other ways:

  • Press the ≡ Menu Button, then the Power Symbol in the lower right corner of the menu.
  • Right-click the taskbar icon and choose either Close Window or Close All Windows.
  • Hold down Alt and press F4.
  • Press Alt+F, then X.

You normally click the Windows logo orb on the taskbar and choose Shut Down or Control Panel, respectively. Neither of these things has anything to do with Firefox though. If you continue having problems with Windows, ask for help on the Microsoft forum.
