Thunderbird 52.0.1Now but this was happening in previous release.

I have a Hotmail account that I have had for years, since Microsoft has gone to Outlook mail I have had lots of problems with their mail server. i.e. "server time out" "unable to connect to IMAP server consider reducing cache connections" (This is set at 1) Mail from my Hotmail account is slow to download if at all and now shows in my "inbox" as a "read" message.

I use another "laptop" and a "smart phone" for accessing my accounts BUT this happens even when those devices have been turned off and do not have access to any mail servers! Any insight would be appreciated, I have run out of ideas?
