Changing an account from one POP server to another

I have an existing email plan with Godaddy, using Thunderbird as client via POP.

Because Godaddy is switching everyone to Exchange, I'm switching to a new POP email provider, using the same email address.

With POP I understand all emails are downloaded to the client. Does that mean I can simply change (in the existing TB account) the Server Name and other settings for the new email server without changing the User Name, and NOT lose existing emails in the account folder?

I've read about IMAP users losing emails after syncing with a new server. Is that also a concern when using POP?

Thanks.

Those messages are already downloaded, so you should be okay. However, there is the potential for losing messages while the domain name servers make the switch on your email account having a new provider. To minimize that exposure, I suggest keeping the Godaddy setup until AFTER the switch has finished and Godaddy is no longer reaching the account. That would ensure you don't lose any messages.
