Lately, Firefox has been going hidden on my Compaq laptop running Windows Vista, and I can't find it before restarting; any suggestions?

Firefox has worked fine for me for years on my Compac Laptop running Windows Vista. In the last two weeks it opens normally, maybe goes to one or two links normally, then becomes completely hidden. I can't tell that it's even running until I shut down or restart. Then I am prompted to quit Firefox.

I don't know why that happens.

Are you familiar with Alt+Tab, a way to switch among running programs? Now and then I don't see a Firefox window on the task bar (in XP), but I know it's still open and can switch to it using Alt+Tab. For best results, hold Alt and tap the tab key. Then you can see a little display of icons and (still holding the Alt key) press tab to move along the list to the desired window. Hold Shift at the same time to move backwards through the icons.
