www/firefox and mail/thunderbird menus show corrupt data

OS: windows XP, 32bit VGA: Ati Radeon HD 4550 This started already on FF 3.5x and continues to 8.0.1

Both Firefox & Thuderbirds has similar corrupted data (black blocks (like legos). Already tried updated Ati drivers, no help. Firefox and Thunderbird are only programs the shows this corrupt data. All other programs works fine.

Are that ellipsis (…) codes that are showing as those blocks?
In that case you may have a problem with a corrupted or missing font.

Hi cor-el, i dont think so.

I add a screenshot of my problematic ff & thunderbird... it happens when i use menus... sometime whole screen looks like this. F5 will not help, only closing and opening window sometimes helps.
