The problem with search engines is they often have Ad links (on Google it is a small yellow icon) related to the search terms above the Real search results. The Ad links are often times linking to questionable sites.
The adc-apps Ad link is a really long link as that should have raised red flags there. The homepage of software normally has a short clear link like say www.mozilla.org or https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
On that so called adc-apps download site it says near bottom things like "Mozilla Firefox is a software developed by Mozilla. This site is not directly affiliated with Mozilla"
If you search for Firefox you should see www.mozilla.org mentioned in the first or second result.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
