Why does FF, since update 59, always freeze
Why does FF, since update 59, always freeze when I am trying to save web pages? Most times the download fails and I have to retry until it works. I can't use the browser until the download is complete. Sometimes the download is not the same as the web page. Looks totally different like a word document,

Is this with all websites/pages, some, a few?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
This download manager works separately from the browser. The browser tells it what to download, and off it goes.
http://www.freedownloadmanager.org It is a powerful modern download accelerator and organizer for Windows and Mac.
The problem is with saving web pages not downloading files. Download manager does not save web pages. Why should I have to start in safe mode every time I want to save a web page? Silly idea.
That also will not solve the problem of FF freezing when the download of the page is going on. Another thing. What is with the constant updates? Getting really annoying now.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.
No difference safe mode or not
Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

Have you taken a look at:

The save full web page works fine most times but the download needs to be refreshed and the FF freezes until download is complete. At times the viewing of the downloaded page is not good. The top half of the page is greyed out or the full page is just like a bad word document. I have tried the same with Opera and it works fine . Maybe FF developers should contact Opera and learn something.
I called for more help.
What is happening regards this problem?
Hi toniwalker10,
In order to help you, we require additional information. Please answer the following questions:
- What website are you trying to save from?
- What is the process you undertake to save the webpage?
- Do you have anti-virus or anti-malware software installed?
Thanks
1 Many websites. Yahoo,Msn, Skysports, Hattrick football manager etc etc.
2 Click File, save page as and then complete webpage.
3 I use Avast but it is disable on firefox addons
It is not just saving pages that is the problem. FF has problems with loading pages especially on yahoo sites. Have to copy and paste to Opera to get the page. No problems. Seems that Opera technicians are better that FF ones. They know what they are doing.

What? Screen shots of the program freezing and failing to download? I cannot do a screenshot as there is nothing to capture. All I get is an orange dot on the download arrow and then the word "failed" when I click the arrow. How do you get a screenshot of Firefox freezing?
Thanks for response. Have you tried a clean reinstall yet?
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location.
To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, please follow these steps: Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
- Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
- Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
- Windows: (Note: Check both folders.)
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
- Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
- Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
- Windows: (Note: Check both folders.)
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.
WARNING: Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device! See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.
Please report back to say if this helped you!
Thank you.
What is the point? I have completely uninstalled and re installed FF many times. This version, 76 ,and its CONSTANT annoying updates, is a clean install as it is on a new laptop and also new on my work laptop. Now when I want to download files the failure kicks in. I should just give up and concentrate on using Opera
